About Me

Alex Mainwaring is a filmmaker based in Vancouver, BC, with a lifelong passion for visual storytelling. At 14, he received a camcorder from a family friend in Japan—menu entirely in Japanese, which he didn't understand at all. Undeterred, he memorized what each button did and started making short films with friends. Eventually, he upgraded to a DSLR (thankfully in English), and his skills grew through experimentation and by studying both mainstream and international cinema.

That early passion led to formal training at Langara College's Film Arts program. In 2015, his film Dinner Time was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival's Canada’s Top 10 Student Short Films program. Today, Alex brings that same dedication and meticulous attention to detail to every project—whether it's capturing a wedding, producing commercial content, or crafting narrative films. Shooting on high-end Canon and RED Cinema cameras, he's involved in every step of the process, from concept to final edit, ensuring each frame reflects the quality and care your story deserves.
